Yesterday, we had a tech-talk here about srp's guide to writing the best code in the world ever! Sounds funky and too technical rite?....but guys, don't worry i am not gonna impart 'gyan' to everybody by summarizing the tech talk here in ma blog.
The one-liner on srp's(Stephen Payne) t-shirt was something like this : $ cd /home/etc/pub
$ more beer
% cat "food in cans"
cat: can't open food in cans
% nice man woman
No manual entry for woman.
% "How would you rate Quayle's incompetence?
Unmatched ".
% Unmatched ".
Unmatched ".
% [Where is Jimmy Hoffa?
Missing ].
% ^How did the sex change operation go?^
Modifier failed.
% If I had a ( for every $ the Congress spent, what would I have?
Too many ('s.
% make love
Make: Don't know how to make love. Stop.
% sleep with me
bad character
% got a light?
No match.
% man: why did you get a divorce?
man:: Too many arguments.
% !:say, what is saccharine?
Bad substitute.
% %blow
%blow: No such job.
% \(-
(-: Command not found.
$ PATH=pretending! /usr/ucb/which sense
no sense in pretending!
$ drink matter
matter: cannot create
$ more beer
Inspired by that, i did some "research"[:D] on the internet about funny linux commands and i came across a bunch of them. Hope you enjoy these commands as much as i did :
% cat "food in cans"
cat: can't open food in cans

No manual entry for woman.

Unmatched ".
% Unmatched ".

Kara! Good research man!! I sure had a good laugh over some of them.
Lastly, this post has come after a long break (from your previous post). Hope this won't happen again.
The o/p of some of these commands is highly defendant on the version of the executable and the shell used ( if not the distro ) e.g try got a light? in ksh. Guess you should have mentioned the shell :)
anyway nice research. loved a few results !!
